Yes, you can live your best life!

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about Happiness and Contentment. I’m 39 years old and I live a blessed life compared to many. No, I’m not super rich nor do I get to take exotic vacations every year. But, I’m healthy, I have a roof over my head, food in my tummy and clean water to drink. Those things alone put me ahead of many. I find in this life I’m happy because I’m content. You see to me, happiness is a feeling and can come and go like the wind. But, true contemptment is a state of mind and being and will not change regardless of the situation.
I remember setting certain goals in life and I just knew that if I met those goals it would make me happy. But, in reality when I did eventually meet my set goals, yes I was happy for a moment. But then that moment passed and I was off to find the next thing that would bring me happiness.

You see, with the pursuit of happiness you’ll never be happy because happiness is fluent and can change like the weather. You can look at other people’s lives and wish you were happy like them. But who said they were actually happy? Smiling for a picture is an easy task. Yes, they are on a great vacation, but are they in debt for that moment of fun? Yes those relationships people protray on social media seem like matches in Heaven, but you never know what someone is going through secretly. I’ve learned early on to never envy the appearance of anything.

But with contentment you’re not easily swayed by the emotion of happiness. I remember when I lived in an apartment with my children. Sure one day I wanted to provide them with a single family home with a yard. But until that time happened, I treated that apartment like it was a million dollar masion. I was content because it supplied our needs and I kept it cleaned because it was a gift from God. I truly believe God won’t bless you with more until you learn to appreciate what you already have.

So daily I practice the art of contentment. Being content makes me happy. Being content helps me to focus on the blessings of my now. Being content helps me to appreciate my present. Yes, I have goals I want to accomplish in life. But on my way to accomplishing them, I’m content with the pace.

So often I speak to people who are not happy with their lives. Everyday has become a routine and they feel stuck. I can honestly say that I’ve been there before. But, one thing you gotta keep pressing for is a better life. This doesn’t always mean becoming a millionaire. It actually can start with having peace of mind.

You see everything starts in the mind. If you want a better life, you gotta see it first. If you want a better job, you have to envision yourself working there first. Whatever your dream is to do or become, you must see it in your mind first.

When God created you, he had so much in store for you. So much in store that goes beyond working everyday then dying. God placed a purpose inside of you and he wants you to carry out your purpose. He wants you to empty yourself out so that there’s nothing left when it’s your time to make your tranision from this earth.

Life is not meant for you to simply work, pay bills then die.

I want to encourage you to find out what your passion and purpose is and begin to fully live life on purpose.

One of my gifts is that of an encourager. I am very grateful for this gift because it enables me to speak into the lives of others and give them a word of hope. My gift is so sensitive that I can even sense stuff going on with people even if I’m not around them on a regular basis. What I mean by that is, God will place a certain person in my heart and I will contact them out of the blue and give them a word of encouragement. Everytime, I do this the person is going through a storm and my words lifted their spirits/emotions.

I don’t take my gift for granted.

I believe we all have a gift and we should carry out our gifts to their full potentials.

But to be honest, at times encouraging others on a daily basis is draining and sometimes I simply want someone to reach out and encourage me. It’s shocking how so many people are engulfed in their own problems that they don’t take time to check on their own friends. It’s hurts often, but I try to pray and get past it.

My phone rings very few times with someone who just wants to say hi or to simply check on how I’m doing.

So many times when i’m feeling alone, I turn to God for strength. I know I can always talk to him about anything and at any time. When I need encouragement, he sends me to his word. I feel much better after I good conversation with my Heavenly Father.

Another thing I do is become my own cheerleader. Since no one else really knows my struggles or successes, I celebrate myself. I give myself a high five. Others may not text or call me, but I can be there for myself!

So I want to encourage you, if you ever feel as no one cares about you. Realize that God really cares and he will be there for you when no one else is. God will encourage and celebrate you, but you have to be able to celebrate yourself too. Stop depending on others for what you can give yourself.

I’m learning to celebrate and encourage myself by doing things for myself. Even if it’s simple things like buying myself an ice cream cone or a snicker candy bar. I love myself. I love my gift of encouragement. And I will never stop loving people or myself.

So often God wants to talk to us, but we can’t hear him over all the noises that surround us. One major noise maker is ourselves. So often we want to dominate the conversation with the things we want; our wish list that we forget to give God a chance to talk.

A conversation requires both talking and listening. If one person is dominating the conversation then the other person feels overwhelmed with no way to escape. They would love to interject and add to the conversation, but there is never an opportunity.

God is not bossy. He is not going to bully his way into a conversation. He has plenty to say that will encourage and give you direction, but if you don’t quiet yourself, he will never be able to share his wisdom.

So I encourage you…the next time you are in a conversation with God give him a chance to talk. His words will guide you and give you peace. His words will uplift and give you answers. Yes, what you have to say is important, but what he has to say will catapult you into your destiny.

Practice listening!

Super excited about speaking at my MADE FOR MORE Motivational event on Saturday. I know many people were not able to make it, so I wanted to share the video of the event. I pray it blesses you.

Sometimes, I honestly want to give back my adult card and be a kid again. Being grown can be very hard at times due to all the responsibilities that are required as an adult. From rent, doctor bills, car notes and insurance, utility bills and a heap load of other stuff, managing it all can be a bit overwhelming. Not to mention those adults who are parents. Those responsibilities of rearing good children are endless. No longer is it just about you, but now you are responsible for the life of another human being.

I’m one of those adults who has children and bills. I love my life and wouldn’t trade it for anyone else’s, but I’ve been through storms in which I did not know how we were going to pay a certain bill or what we were going to eat next.

My testimony is that although at times I lacked resources, I was full of faith. Faith is what gets God’s attention. Faith causes angels to work on your behalf. Faith causes things to happen in the spiritual first, then supernaturally in the natural.

Life for me and my family nowadays is pretty cool calm and collective. I’m very grateful for all of the blessings in our lives. When my finances are low, I call forth money to come into my reality. God owns everything. And being that he is my Heavenly father and I am his child, when I ask for anything he blesses me with it.

Please don’t get me wrong, sometimes things don’t happen on my time clock, but God is always on time. Yes, there are times when God seems to want to till the last minute, but that’s where faith kicks in.

We have all been given a measure of faith, but it’s up to us to exercise and grow our faith to great levels. The question should never be if God wants to do something, but rather are you willing to do your part by praying and trusting him.

Yesterday was a very big day for me. For the longest God had been dealing with me regarding encouraging others by speaking into their lives, on a different platform than just everday conversation and social media. I love people and talking, so for God to use me the way he did was really awesome.

Everyday I try to encourage others and stay positive. In my room at my job, I have a sign that reads, Happiness is a choice! I truly believe those words and I try to stay concious of being happy regardless of what’s going on around me.

When God first revealed to me that he wanted me to hold an event I began to have many questions: Where, when, how, what should I speak about?? After calming my spirit and my mind he gave me the answers I was searching for.

The title came to me as clear as me writing this blog post. God said call it, Made for More. I really liked that title because I do believe God created us for so much more than just living, going to work, chauffeuring children to different activities, doing this everyday, then dying. I refuse to have that cycle be my story. God created me on purpose, for a purpose.

Next, I questioned where to hold the event. Should I rent a facility? I was so confused, but God with his infinite wisdom led me to simply have it in my home. I’m paying a mortgage, so why not use it?!?!

For weeks I pondered over what to say to those with whom I invited. In time, God told me exactly what to say and how to say it.

Finally the day arrived and as I prepared refreshments for my guest and clean the house, the spirit of God overtook me. I thanked him for the opportunity to speak to his children and for his blessings to overtake my guests as they received wisdom spoken through me from him.

The event lasted almost two hours and I can honestly say, I enjoyed every minute of it. I realize everyone is at a different place in their lives, so I prayed that one nugget of wisdom could propel someone into realizing their purpose.

Everyone had an opportunity to win a door prize and the refreshments were super yummy.

So as I reflect on yesterday, I am extremely grateful to God for the opportunity to share what he had placed in my heart. I thank God for the ladies that attended because I know everyone is super busy. So for them to stop by and share their time with me was truly a blessing.

My next event will be held in June, so I will be in prayer regarding what I should say and present. I love being used by God. I am grateful for what he is doing in my life and in the lives on my friends.

You too were Made of More. Your life has purpose, but its up to you to find out what your purpose and gifts are. And when you do, just make sure you use them to glorify God.

Be encouraged!

Just my thoughts…Adrian
