Yes, you can live your best life!

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about Happiness and Contentment. I’m 39 years old and I live a blessed life compared to many. No, I’m not super rich nor do I get to take exotic vacations every year. But, I’m healthy, I have a roof over my head, food in my tummy and clean water to drink. Those things alone put me ahead of many. I find in this life I’m happy because I’m content. You see to me, happiness is a feeling and can come and go like the wind. But, true contemptment is a state of mind and being and will not change regardless of the situation.
I remember setting certain goals in life and I just knew that if I met those goals it would make me happy. But, in reality when I did eventually meet my set goals, yes I was happy for a moment. But then that moment passed and I was off to find the next thing that would bring me happiness.

You see, with the pursuit of happiness you’ll never be happy because happiness is fluent and can change like the weather. You can look at other people’s lives and wish you were happy like them. But who said they were actually happy? Smiling for a picture is an easy task. Yes, they are on a great vacation, but are they in debt for that moment of fun? Yes those relationships people protray on social media seem like matches in Heaven, but you never know what someone is going through secretly. I’ve learned early on to never envy the appearance of anything.

But with contentment you’re not easily swayed by the emotion of happiness. I remember when I lived in an apartment with my children. Sure one day I wanted to provide them with a single family home with a yard. But until that time happened, I treated that apartment like it was a million dollar masion. I was content because it supplied our needs and I kept it cleaned because it was a gift from God. I truly believe God won’t bless you with more until you learn to appreciate what you already have.

So daily I practice the art of contentment. Being content makes me happy. Being content helps me to focus on the blessings of my now. Being content helps me to appreciate my present. Yes, I have goals I want to accomplish in life. But on my way to accomplishing them, I’m content with the pace.

Let me start off by saying, I am not into politics AT ALL. Yet, I will admit Trump fasinates me. I say this because from what I hear, he doesn’t have any political background, yet he decided to run for the highest position in America. And in his heart he believes he can win. I admire this so much  because that’s the true definition of FAITH!

“Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

This man despite all odds is going full steam towards his dreams. I may not agree with some of things he says or does, but watching him in action has catapulted my FAITH levels. If he can see himself as President, I should be able to see myself as a New York Times Best Seller. I believe the word of God when it says, “But with God all things are possible.”  Matthew 9:26

“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24
But getting on that list or achieving anything in life takes work. Nothing is simply handed to anyone. I must be diligent and be faithful with my part and God will be faithful with his part. I then must trust his perfect timing and stop looking at my watch.

I want to encourage everyone reading this blog post that if you can first see it in your mind, then it can become your reality. Stop focusing on the now and who you are right now. But rather, view yourself as what you want to become. Live in your mind as if you are already who you are trying to become. The first step is to first think it. Next, speak it. Speak it daily.

“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Mark 11:23

The older I get the more God opens my eyes to the different personalities of people. Some of these personalities blend well with mine, while there are others who leave me hurt and confused by their actions.

Back in 2008, Bishop TD Jakes spoke a sermon on the three types of friends. As he proceeds into his sermon he warns those listening to watch out for the character of people.

The first group are CONFIDONTS. You will have very few of these on your life. These are your “ride or die” type of friends. They will be in your corner through Hell and high water. Whether you are up or down, they will have your back. These people don’t drain you, but rather pour back into your life so that you can pour into others. I can honestly say, I know who these people are in my life.

The next group are the CONSTITUENTS. These people are not about you. They are merely into what you’re for. They aren’t really into you. They aren’t really your friend. They are in your life only because they like what you like.

The third group are the COMRADES. This group of people are really not in your life for the long term. They come for a certain purpose, then they leave. Don’t expect them to react to your visions/dreams/goals the way you thought they would because they never really believed in you in the first place.

Be careful who you tell your dreams to.

During this year, God has truly shown me who these three types of people are in my life. I vent to God and to my husband regarding how I thought certain people were my “true” friends, yet their actions prove something different. My weakness is that I always believe the best in people. I don’t want to think bad of anyone, but some people just need to exit my life.

It hurts that I have ask for help or support from people that I’ve wholeheartedly supported during their time of acting on the vision God has given them. For example,  I can send text messages for support with no responses. Only to send a follow up a few days later asking if they got my text, and their answer is, “yes.” Wow, I was totally disregarded. Hurts, but I know God has a plan.

Everyone in your life is not going to be for you when you need them. This I know as truth. But, God will always be there and will supply you with not only what you need, but also put you in the company of those who will help you.

Never give up on your dreams and goals because it seems like no one supports you. If God gave you the dream all you need to do is keep believing and trust him. Trust him, one step at a time. Trust him, one day at a time.

Below, i’ve attached the video of the sermon if you’re interested in hearing it.

One day I asked God how could I make a difference in this world? With so much saddness going on around us, how could little ole’ me bring a smile to someone else’s face? Then he told me…

You see, I love children. I would of had more than the two I have, but I quickly learned where babies came from and I wasn’t too sold on the idea. Sorry I digressed!

As I sat watching t.v., something I rarely do, I prayed and listened. God showed me a vision of celebrating with children on their birth day. These particular children I was to celebrate with were not your typical children. Rather, these children would be from low income homes or those living in shelters.

I was blessed to grow up in a home and my birthday was celebrated every year by my mom. But, so often these children are overlooked due to finances or other reasons.

This is why I wanted to start a non profit organization geared towards surprising these children with a personalized birthday party.

This organization is still in the developing stage because with everything comes a cost. Would you please be a blessing to me and the future children I plan to celebrate by giving a donation towards the filing fees with lawyers and the IRS? Any amount would truly be a blessing. Thank you again and I’m super excited about what is about to take place in the lives of children.

In six more days, I will have awesome the opportunity to speak to others regarding their purpose here on earth. I believe we were all created for a purpose and on purpose. The only thing is, many people have not discovered what their purpose is and they are simply living daily with no direction.

Then there are those who have discovered their purpose, but are too afraid to go forward with their passion. Many people are too afraid to jump due to fear of failure. Truth is we are all going to fail at some point, but that doesn’t constitute you a failure.

I plan to encourage those who attend to be risk takers and realize that we only have one life to live. Thus, we should live it to the fullest. We all have gifts and talents to share with this world, thus going to the grave full of regrets and unused gifts is not an option.

I am grateful for this opportunity to be used by God to encouraged others.

Often times when you step out on faith, there will be those who doubt your abilities and your purpose. But, you must remain faithful to what God has told you to do, and carry it out regardless of who stands with you in agreement. When you have a purpose and vision sometimes all you have to depend on is yourself and God.

Think it not strange when there is no support from those with whom you thought would be your “ride or die” friends. Unfortunately, everyone does not want to see you do better than them. Or succeed in general. They like you exactly where you are. But, my friend, God has so much more in store for you than to live a stagnant life.

When others turn their backs on you, don’t get discouraged. Follow your passions and encourage yourself. Look yourself in the mirror everyday and affirm to yourself that you are great and that you can achieve anything.

When no one has your back, believe in yourself. You know you were created for more, so don’t allow the opinions of others to hold you back. Simply allow the “hate” from the “haters” to propel you forward.

God has a purpose for your life. You were created on purpose. Stop caring about what others are or are not doing to support you. Stay in your lane. Focus on what God told you to do. Because when you do, your life will be blessed and successful.

Just my thoughts…Adrian

Too often we get caught up in only celebrating the big accomplishments in our lives, as oppose to the not so big ones. In my opinion, every accomplishment should be celebrated no matter the size. Never undercelebrate yourself and never wait on someone else to celebrate you.

I admit, I too had fallen into the trap of waiting for others approval or applause regarding the accomplishments in my life from others. But, one day it occured to me (after no one cheered me on) that I needed to applaude myself.

When you celebrate yourself it doesn’t always mean doing something big and expensive. You can celebrate by simply taking yourself out to dinner, to a movie or buying yourself a new outfit.

I really believe celebrating smaller accomplishments help you to appreciate the bigger ones. When you get into the practice of celebrating you, you will begin to get excited about what else you can accomplish. You get excited about goal setting and seeing those goals unfold.

I encourage you today to take a moment each time you accomplish a goal to celebrate yourself. Pat youself on the back for your hard work. Look yourself in the mirror and smile because you are amazing!
